I am the illustrator of the book The Adventures of Charlie Crab and Friends, also, the granddaughter of the author, Alan Williams. I studied art and design for three years at college then fine art at university. I am currently working as a Visual Merchandiser.

I grew up hearing the stories that Gramps read to his children and all my cousins (there’s a lot of us!) his grandchildren.

So, bringing Charlie Crab and friends to life for the whole family has been really special but also a bit daunting. It has given me so much experience in the world of illustration and I love it!

Seeing how far my drawings have come is really cool. The initial concepts for Charlie Crab and friends were sketched on paper with watercolours and were very rough. To have now the images created digitally and fully shaped into a book is madness!

I have enjoyed designing Charlie Crab and Friends to fit in with the whole family’s vision it has been great fun.I also loved experimenting with how creative I could be in bringing to life these little creature and their underwater world.

Most people in their biographies talk about what they have achieved, I’m only 23 and new to the world of illustrations, so instead I thought I would talk about what I want to do.

I would love to become a professional illustrator, working on different types of books, design striking front covers, maybe dabble in some animation, who knows!

One day, I might even have kids of my own, I can read this book to them, too. I can’t wait to see others enjoy these stories and hope people find them as magical as we all did.
